Going it alone may be for some, but for many of us, there is strength in numbers. Its just nice to sometimes have neighbors to call upon when needed. This property is ideally suited for just such a thing.
The “Summer Camp” features 97 acres of secluded mountain land improved with eleven all weather cabins, a two acre pond, dining hall with commercial kitchen, infirmary, two maintenance garages, and much more. Located near the end of a dead end road twenty minutes from Black Mountain and just two hours from Charlotte, this property is off the beaten path, yet readily accessible for those who know its there.
It has been operated through the years as a summer camp and a wilderness therapy camp, therefore, the buildings and improvements are in good shape and ready for occupancy. Five newer cabins feature more than 1,000 s.f. each and include two full baths and are cooled with heat pumps, heated with propane and even have Jotul wood stoves. The other six cabins are smaller and older, but heated and cooled, although they share a common bath house and laundry facility with eight washers and dryers. The dining hall is large and features a full commercial kitchen with walk in freezer and walk in refrigerator. The camp could easily accommodate up to 100 persons in comfortable housing.
The pond provides ample water supply (although there are two wells on the property connected to a water distribution system), a recreational feature and a source of food if stocked. Just below the two acre pond is a large field that is flat and open, ideal for gardening or small livestock. Imagine making this your private summer playground or go in together with other families and friends to make it more feasible. Its truly an ideal set up for those who want to have a Mutual Aid Group in a pristine environment. Click here for full details and more photos.
