The other day, I had the opportunity to tour a prime bug out property with its owner. The Pisgah Ranch was designed from the ground up to be a North Carolina survival property. It looks like a friendly log home (which it is), but it is a fortress. Situated on 97 very private acres with plenty of forestland, wildlife, surface water and rock formations, its an off the grid paradise. A 2,000 CF deep larder/pantry and a 2,000 CF safe room, both encased in 12″ of reinforced concrete floors, walls and ceilings, are nearly impenetrable.
If the power should go out, there is a 13.5 kw whole house generator fueled by a 1,000 gallon diesel tank. There are two more 1,000 gallon propane tanks for cooking and heat, if you don’t want to light the wood stove. Even the barn has a 1,000 gallon tank with aviation gas (it never goes bad).
One of the beauties of this property is that it is ideally set up for multiple families. A total of four more residences can be built on the acreage, to create a defensible prepper property. Click here for a full description of the listing and photos of this Asheville survival property.
